Where: Pizarra (Malaga), Spain

Founded: 1996

Manager: Mena Cebolla-Huonder

Volunteers: no

Activity: The organization receives stray animals, and attempts to provide them with new homes. Some animals come to the organization from municipal shelters, which unfortunately have miserable conditions and are without a good perspective for the animal. At the same time the organization takes a preventive approach by providing information, for example, leaflets among veterinarians and animal stands at exhibitions, on the importance of castration / sterilization. In addition, sterilization operations are regularly organized with the assistance of local veterinarians, but also volunteer vets from all over Europe. These actions mainly ‘help’ females.

Capacity: several hundred animals

Supported by SBA since: 1996
Mena: ‘The SBA has helped us tremendously, from the very beginning in 1996. They provided a temporary building to help with the sterilization efforts. Also, the SBA contributed to the construction of quarantine areas as well as our main building that we have been using for the last eight years.’

SBA assistance projects:

  • Building for performance of emergency operations (sterilization)
  • Funding for quarantine rooms
  • Contributions to new construction (2000-2003) in Pizarra
  • AFA sterilization operations
